ACF Welcomes Kent Syverud as University of Michigan President

Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) applauds the appointment of outgoing Syracuse University Chancellor Kent Syverud as the next president of the University of Michigan. A distinguished alum and former faculty member of the University of Michigan Law School, Syverud will succeed interim president Domenico Grasso.

Chancellor Syverud has been a proactive advocate for addressing antisemitism on campus. In October 2025, he joined ACF’s The Honor Roll: Champions Against Campus Antisemitism panel, where he shared practical strategies for countering Jew hatred and raised alarms about foreign influence, including Iran’s ties to pro-Hamas protests and encampments across U.S. campuses. His collaboration with peers from Washington University in St. Louis and Vanderbilt University underscored his commitment to fostering inclusive academic environments.

ACF looks forward to continuing our strong working relationship with Chancellor Syverud in his new role at the University of Michigan. We aim to support him in fostering a welcoming and supportive campus environment for Jewish and pro-Israel students.
