Protect Our Students: Demand Safe, Fair, and Uninterrupted Education on College Campuses
Last school year, college campuses across America were disrupted by violent and hateful protests and encampments, leading to classes being pushed online or canceled entirely, physical blockades of campus spaces like libraries, classrooms, and common areas, canceled graduations, and countless incidents of harassment, discrimination, and intimidation of students. Students of all races, faiths, gender identities, ethnicities, and socio-economic status who have long dreamt of college and, in many cases, will incur decades-long loan debt, were displaced, disrupted, and disengaged from their education. They were forced into unsafe situations and felt untold amounts of fear and anxiety by a small minority of students and outside agitators focused on disrupting their college experience.
Meanwhile, millions of American parents who have spent decades caring, nurturing, and saving for children to go to expensive colleges across the country were unnecessarily left to worry about their safety and educational experience. In the face of this disruption, violence, and trauma, many college administrators failed to uphold even basic standards of fairness--including by not even enforcing their own codes of conduct and legal obligations.
This year, parents and college alumni are banding together to prevent a repeat of these outcomes. As caring parents and tuition-payers that support these institutions, we demand that administrations put safety and education first, enforce their codes of conduct, and uphold their obligations to students, parents, and the rule of law.
By adding your name to this list and selecting the college you, your child, or your family member attend, we will demonstrate that all American families are demanding a renewed focus on education and safety this year.
