Universities nationwide have become breeding grounds for antisemitism, leaving Jewish and pro-Israel students vulnerable and targeted. However, Syracuse University stands apart by taking decisive action — responding to incidents as they arise and proactively fostering a safe, inclusive campus. It is refreshing and commendable to see a university lead with integrity.  

Syracuse leadership has consistently demonstrated moral clarity in the face of rising campus divisions:

• A Swift and Clear Response: Just one week after the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, Syracuse administrators issued an unequivocal statement: “We know what we believe in at Syracuse. We reject antisemitism.” Their timely response emphasized respect and compassion for students directly impacted by the violence.
• Taking Action Against Hate: When campus demonstrations targeted Jewish organizations by name, falsely accusing them of being “complicit in genocide,” Syracuse did not stand idly by. The university immediately condemned this “reprehensible behavior” and made clear that such actions would result in disciplinary consequences.
• Standing Firm on Student Conduct: During a sit-in where students held “Intifada” signs, Syracuse’s former Vice President for Student Experience, Rob Hradsky, took direct action. He called out the use of the term—rightly associating it with exhortations to violence and genocide—and warned that failure to comply with university policies would result in charges.

Syracuse has proven it has the courage of its convictions.
