As alumni, parents, and community members of Columbia University represented by Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF-Columbia/Barnard), we are writing to thank you for condemning today’s instance of systemic antisemitism.

Last week, Jewish students and allies awoke to the news that the antisemitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) referendum passed by a vote of the student body. Today, Jewish students witnessed a swastika on the steps of Low Library. As Columbia/Barnard Hillel stated, "we are witnessing a growing trend of Jewish students feeling unsafe or unwelcome on campus." While we thank you for your timely statement last week, in which you reiterated your opposition to the referendum and questioned the effect that BDS has on campus, we ask you to do more to protect Jewish students on campus.

Now is the time for your Administration to show that Antisemitism is a vile hate that divides student bodies, targets Jewish students and allies, and impedes on academic advancement. Your leadership is needed to support the Columbia Jewish community.

We—alumni, parents, and community members represented by ACF-Columbia/Barnard—-thank you for your continued condemnation of antisemitism and we hope that you continue to promulgate these values moving forward. As the unified alumni voice against antisemitism, we are confident that you will work diligently to combat BDS and antisemitism on campus.

Sign now to thank President Bollinger for his leadership at Columbia!
