GW Has Failed Jewish Students. ACF is Holding Them Accountable.

Washington, D.C. – Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) is mobilizing in Washington, D.C. today to shine a light on George Washington University’s shameful record of antisemitism and institutional failure to protect the Jewish community.

As GW holds its annual commencement ceremonies, alumni will be there to hold them accountable with digital advertising throughout D.C. These efforts include a large mobile billboard reminding the community of the state of affairs at the university.

ACF is also launching a new petition at AntisemitesWelcomeAtGW.com where people can learn more information and get involved.

Avi D. Gordon, Executive Director of Alums for Campus Fairness and a GW alumnus, released the following statement:

“GW has fostered a hostile environment for Jews, creating a troublesome environment for students today. Administrators have ignored our community for too long. Alumni are now standing up and demanding accountability and meaningful action.”

Gordon recently published an op-ed in the Washington Examiner detailing the troubling campus climate for Jewish students.

The most recent antisemitic outrage concerns Lara Sheehi, who teaches a mandatory diversity course for students in the graduate school of professional psychology. She repeatedly harangued and harassed Jewish students and included vile antisemitism in her curriculum. When Jewish students sought help, they faced retaliation and intimidation from GW administrators. The situation has gotten so bad that GW now faces a federal civil rights investigation.

GW’s history of hatred started well before Sheehi. A year and a half ago, someone broke into a Jewish fraternity and desecrated a Torah scroll. Extreme anti-Israel posters were plastered all over campus in 2022, telling Zionists to "f—k off." In 2020, the university appointed an unapologetic supporter of the antisemitic BDS campaign to lead its international affairs school.
