One alumni voice. Countering Bigotry.

Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) harnesses the unique power of alumni to counter antisemitism, including demonization of Israel and other forms of bigotry at universities. In the face of unprecedented attacks on Jewish and Zionist students, staff and faculty, ACF’s network acts to address acts of antisemitism on campus and ensure that universities remain pillars of truth and academic freedom. ACF members proactively engage with the administration at their alma maters to prevent discrimination, promote open dialogue, and foster respectful debate.

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement is gaining ground on campuses across the country. Last month, the student government at the University of California, Irvine voted to pass a pro-BDS resolution 19-3.

“Calling for the mass boycott of Israel is a way to publicly stand against the existence of a Jewish nation in a land that Jews are indigenous to,” writes University of Southern California student Julia Leb. “In doing so, the movement is denying a huge part of the Jewish identity from having an acceptable place in social life. If that is not antisemitism, then I ask what is,” she added.

"Unfortunately, campus antisemitism is not a new phenomenon. It is particularly troubling on today’s campuses, however, as universities propose to be pillars of truth, supporting academic freedom and open discourse. Instead of Holocaust denial, today’s antisemitism is often masked as anti-Israel sentiment," ACF Executive Director Avi D. Gordon writes in the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Tufts University’s Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter has withdrawn its complaint against student government member Max Price, but is allegedly considering new options to punish him. Tufts SJP initially filed the complaint due to Price’s opposition to an anti-Israel resolution that erroneously alleged that Israeli military personnel trains U.S. law enforcement to harm minorities.

“They tried to intimidate the Jewish community into silence, to force Jews to renounce their shared heritage, to exclude Jews from leadership,” Price said. “While I am relieved that my Judaism is no longer on trial, this change in course does not absolve SJP of their behavior.”

SJP’s withdrawal of the complaint is not sufficient. The Tufts administration must reprimand SJP, and take the necessary steps to protect Jewish students from antisemitism in all of its forms. ... See MoreSee Less

Despite recent efforts to eliminate antisemitism on its campus, Emory University's Yerkes National Primate Research Center is still named after Robert Yerkes, a well-known racist and antisemite. Many students and faculty members are calling on Emory to rename the center after a figure who is not associated with antisemitism and Nazism.

Yerkes’s “work led directly to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Jews in the Holocaust,” writes Emory law professor George Shepherd. “Both in promoting the eugenics model that the Nazis copied and in helping deny sanctuary to European Jews, Yerkes contributed importantly to the Holocaust’s severity.”

Syracuse University’s Student Association tabled a resolution which would have condemned antisemitism and adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. The decision was made over concerns with the IHRA definition’s wording and fears that it would harm “Palestinian human rights.”

“Anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism. Not denouncing BDS is anti-Semitism,” said Student Association member Noah Wagner, who introduced the resolution. “We just have concerns about what is going on around the country, and I think that it is especially important to adopt this and that we have a stance against this.”
