ACF Marks Three Years Since October 7

New York, NY – Three years ago today, on October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists murdered nearly 1,200 people in southern Israel and took 251 hostages into Gaza. It was the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) pauses to remember every life taken and to stand with the survivors, the families of the victims and hostages, and the communities forever changed by that day.

The pain of October 7 did not stay in Israel. Within days, it reached American campuses through rallies celebrating the attack and through harassment and exclusion that left many Jewish and pro-Israel students feeling unwelcome at schools they love. Three years later, that climate has not gone away.

But neither have Jewish students. They have kept showing up for class, Shabbat dinners and vigils, and meetings with college and university leaders who need to hear from them. They have not stood alone. Since October 7, ACF’s alumni network across the country has pressed administrators to enforce their own policies and ensure a safe and fair learning environment for all students.

“October 7 is a day of mourning, and we will never allow it to be forgotten,” said Avi D. Gordon, Executive Director of Alums for Campus Fairness. “It is also a reminder of why this work matters. Alumni have a voice that universities cannot ignore, and we will keep using it so Jewish and pro-Israel students can learn, lead, and live openly on every campus. Am Yisrael Chai.”

Today, ACF remembers. And the work continues.
