ACF Applauds Missouri for Adopting IHRA Definition of Antisemitism

Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) applauds Gov. Mike Kehoe and the state of Missouri for officially codifying the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism into law. On Thursday, April 23, Gov. Kehoe signed House Bill 2061 after it passed the Missouri legislature.

While signing the bill, Gov. Kehoe stated, “Missouri stands with Israel and its people, and we want to make sure that the world understands that.” He also emphasized that “antisemitism has no place in our state” and reaffirmed that every student has the right to learn free from hate.

With this action, Missouri becomes the 39th state to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition, a widely recognized standard for identifying and addressing antisemitism. The law provides a clear and consistent framework for state and local governmental entities to evaluate discriminatory intent and respond more effectively to incidents of antisemitism. The adoption of IHRA will ensure that students and faculty are protected from fear and intimidation by providing mechanisms for reporting and investigating acts of discrimination and harassment.

ACF views this legislation as a meaningful step toward strengthening protections for the Jewish community and promoting accountability. Establishing a consistent standard helps foster safer, more inclusive environments, particularly on college campuses where antisemitism has continued to rise.
