ACF Applauds University of Nebraska-Lincoln Regents, Chancellor for Rejecting Divestment Resolution

Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) applauds the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Board of Regents and Chancellor Kathy Ankerson for swiftly rejecting a divestment resolution recently passed by the student government, the Association of Students at the University of Nebraska (ASUN). The resolution, co-authored by two ASUN senators in collaboration with the campus chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), sought to support divestment initiatives targeting Israel.

The Board of Regents quickly emphasized that only it has the authority to make decisions for the university, not the student government. Chancellor Ankerson reinforced this position and reiterated UNL’s commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment for all students.

ACF views this decisive action as a crucial step in preventing divisive Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaigns from  creating a hostile campus climate. Such efforts foster division rather than constructive dialogue and disproportionately impact Jewish and pro-Israel students, undermining their ability to feel safe on campus.
