ACF Monitoring Anti-Israel Vandalism at Swarthmore College

Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) is closely monitoring a large-scale act of anti-Israel vandalism that took place at Swarthmore College in the early morning hours of May 1.

According to the college, approximately six masked individuals carried out hundreds of acts of vandalism across campus during a 30-minute period. Graffiti was spray-painted on buildings, trees, fences, walkways, and other campus property. Messages included “Free Palestine,” “Free Gaza,” “Divest,” “Drop Cisco,” and phrases targeting the College’s Board of Managers, including “Board of butchers.”

The individuals involved were described as masked, and it remains unclear whether they are affiliated with the college.

In a message to the campus community, President Val Smith condemned the vandalism and stated that the college is actively working to identify those responsible. She further noted that if students are found to be involved, “they will face immediate disciplinary action, including interim suspension.” The college also indicated that the damage was extensive and may take several days to remove completely, with some vandalism potentially remaining visible for an extended period.

ACF views this incident as part of a broader and deeply troubling trend of escalating hostility and destructive conduct tied to anti-Israel activism on college campuses. Acts of vandalism and intimidation undermine campus safety and disrupt the academic environment for the entire community.
