Alums for Campus Fairness at the University of California Los Angeles (ACF-UCLA) is alarmed that guest lecturer and San Francisco State University professor Rabab Abdulhadi called pro-Israel students, Zionists, and Jewish students “white supremacists” during a mandatory Anthropology class session on Tuesday, May 14th.

ACF-UCLA condemns this blatant show of antisemitism at UCLA in the strongest possible terms. In response to a student question criticizing Abdulhadi’s statement, she replied, “I stand with Jews who do not support Israel and I hope that Jews will disalign themselves with white supremacy.”

This blatant show of antisemitism goes beyond the bounds of appropriate academic discourse, and UCLA must not tolerate the demonization of Jewish students by faculty. According to FBI hate-crimes statistics, more than half of all hate crimes with a religious bias are directed at Jews. We call on UCLA to act swiftly to protect Jewish students and ensure that targeted discrimination of the Jewish community will not be tolerated.

ACF-UCLA will continue to take action to address this developing situation. We call on the UCLA administration to show their support for the University’s Jewish community and join it in working tirelessly to eradicate antisemitism from campus.
