ACF Welcomes Dropping of CAIR and SJP Lawsuit at Northwestern

Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) welcomes the dropping of the lawsuit filed by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) on behalf of Graduate Workers for Palestine at Northwestern University.

This development follows a recent decision by a U.S. federal judge rejecting the lawsuit’s challenge to Northwestern’s mandatory online antisemitism training. The university has proceeded with disciplinary action against students who refused to participate in the required training, reinforcing its authority to set and enforce expectations around conduct and education related to antisemitism.

ACF views this outcome as an important affirmation of Northwestern’s responsibility to confront antisemitism and uphold policies designed to protect students and foster a respectful academic environment. When enforced consistently, training initiatives play a critical role in ensuring that all members of the campus community understand and adhere to shared standards.
