Alums for Campus Fairness Commends Columbia University’s Decisive Actions Following Classroom Disruption

New York, NY – Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) applauds Columbia University for its expedient response to the recent disruption of a History of Modern Israel class. This unacceptable incident, which sought to intimidate students and undermine the university’s academic mission, is an affront to the principles of education and free inquiry.

In connection with the disruption, Columbia University has already identified and suspended one participant pending further investigation and disciplinary proceedings. The ongoing investigation aims to hold all involved individuals accountable.

“Columbia’s leadership has finally ‘stepped up to the plate’ and has done something actionable to those nefarious actors. This sent a clear message that future disruptions to the academic environment have no place on campus,” said Avi D. Gordon, Executive Director of ACF. “Universities must remain spaces for learning, debate, and mutual respect. We hope Columbia continues to discipline any future offenders moving forward.”
