Alums for Campus Fairness Commends White House Executive Order to Combat Antisemitism

New York, NY — Alums for Campus Fairness Executive Director Avi D. Gordon released the following statement on the new Executive Order “Additional Measures to Combat Anti-Semitism” as released on January 29, 2025.

“We welcome efforts by federal, state, and local government agencies to enforce existing laws and keep our college campuses safe from antisemitic violence, discrimination, and intimidation. Foreign nationals granted the privilege of a U.S. student visa must abide by the same laws facing American citizens, and those who violate the law by committing vandalism, violent harassment, or physical assault must face legal consequences.”

Background: Universities have an obligation to guarantee the safety of their students, faculty, and staff. Yet, in the wake of Hamas-led October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks in Israel, too many schools have abetted conduct that defies their own policies in addition to breaking the law. As law enforcement authorities and immigration officials intervene in the absence of university action, ACF urges respect for constitutionally protected free speech and due process rights.

ACF will continue to engage with universities to end the scourge of antisemitism. Through a proactive letter campaign last summer, ACF urged school leaders to enforce their policies consistently and develop a clear plan for the 2024-2025 academic year. That includes strengthening protections for Jewish and pro-Israel students, enforcing faculty conduct guidelines, setting firm protest regulations, and reaffirming support for Jewish campus organizations. By mobilizing alumni and engaging directly with administrators, ACF has worked to ensure universities uphold their responsibility to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.

About ACF: Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) leverages the unique power of alumni to combat antisemitism on college campuses. ACF helps organize and cultivate alumni chapters for colleges and universities across the country, equipping members with tools, tactics, and training to proactively engage with administrators.
