ACF Welcomes Mung Chiang as Northwestern University President

Alums for Campus Fairness (ACF) welcomes the appointment of Mung Chiang as the next president of Northwestern University. The university announced that Chiang will assume the role effective July 1. This transition follows the September 2025 resignation of former President Michael Schill.

Chiang currently serves as the president of Purdue University, a position he has held since 2023. He has earned praise from Jewish leaders, including Northwestern alumni, Northwestern Hillel, and the Coalition Against Antisemitism at Northwestern (CAAN), for his academic excellence, commitment to free speech, and strong rejection of antisemitism.

ACF recognizes the significant challenges faced by Northwestern’s Jewish and pro-Israel students and faculty, and views this leadership transition as an important opportunity for meaningful progress. We look forward to building a strong, collaborative relationship with President Chiang to ensure the university is committed to transparency, accountability, and the safety and inclusion of all.
